Ranger's 8,500 mile Odyssey from The Great Lakes to the Orcas Islands
Ranger's early construction photos - Burger Boats, Manitowoc, 1914
Burger Boats in Manitowoc found these wonderful photos of Ranger at the time she was launched in 1914. As Ranger nears 100 years of age, we are delighted to be able to share these interesting and informative photos!
Not only do they show the simplicity of the yard that built this beautiful schooner in 1914, but, there was a suprise discovery. Ranger seems to have a propeller - and therefore she must have had an engine. This is remarkable for 1914.
A big thank you to Burger's Marketing and Sales Manager for his interest in her history and rebuild. It is hoped that as Burger tidies its archives they will find more on Ranger and provide some answers - what sort of engine and where was it installed.
Already, they have found an article on the contract, which we show below!
