New marinas, homes and resort projects are planned for a 25 square kilometer island in the delta of the Bayano River. Bounded by the rivers - Rio Bayano (Chepo), Rio Chico and Rio Viejo and a seven kilometre beach, protected from heavy weather by the enchanting small island of Chepillo, it is expected to become a haven of local sports fishermen and newcomers to Panama.

A great attraction is its proximity to Tocumen International Airport. A 16 km road from the Interamerican Highway is to be upgraded with bridge access to the island. Once this is completed, the project will be
Equally important is the fact that Panama City is moving east with new housing projects for all economic levels and the Metro Linea 2 will reach Nuevo Tocumen in 2018. This means that workers will also be able to reach the project and live in proximity. And that will mean that skilled workers will have easy access to the project.
The project is at the study stage with environmental issues and permissions given high priority to ensure this resort meets high standards and is environmentally friendly. Talks have begun with a leading prize winning architect, and, those keen to establish marinas and marine commercial activity, such as repairs and fuel supply. As needs and interest are assessed a master plan for land use is in progress. At this stage some lots are on sale on the beach and river frontages. Prices are negotiable - depending on location and intended use.

- Protected by a police presence. The Policia Nacional have accepted a hectare of land on the Bayano river frontage to establish a base and provide security in the area.
